Julie Richards is a young singer/songwriter struggling to find her own voice. She has recently moved to Los Angeles with her guitar-player boyfriend, Robby, hoping to break into the music scene. At Robby's neighborhood bar in the port town of San Pedro, Juilie meets her idol, Alexis, a sultry country and western star who has been Robby's lover on and off for years. Julie is drawn to Alexis, fascinated by her powerful lonely erratic ways, by her music and her wisdom. Through the love triangle that evolves, Julie experiences the depths of love and pain, and out of that comes her first heartfelt song.
