Based on an actual event, this film deals with a black man and his wife--two victims of a Public Health Service experiment that sought to discover the long-range effects of syphilis on the human body from autopsies. On the day the man discovers that he has been victimized by the U.S. government, we see the effects of the discovery in his relationship with his wife and with the community. A passive man becomes a man of action.
