Seventeen-year old Daniela wins a scholarship to attend college. Her father a construction laborer, has been laid off and wants her to stay home and help support the family. Her mother wants her daughter to have a chance she didn't as a young woman. Daniela is torn between her desire for college and the responsibility she feels towards her family. Is she being selfish? After much conflict and indecision, she leaves home to start college.
