The Manchurian Candidate
Synopsis
In its tale of Russian interference overseas, Frankenheimer’s Cold War shocker feels all-too relevant. Laurence Harvey stars as US Army sergeant Raymond Shaw, brainwashed while a POW in Korea into becoming a sleeper assassin in a Communist conspiracy. Sinatra is the fellow POW who slowly uncovers the plot, and Angela Lansbury is unforgettable as Shaw’s domineering mother. A potent and essential classic.
