Synopsis

Michael’s wife, Theresa, died over a year ago. A freelance photographer, Michael spends a large portion of his days alone in his apartment, grieving her loss. To say that Michael finds it hard to move on from Theresa’s death is an understatement. The truth is that he doesn’t really want to. Instead, Michael has created a rich fantasy world from his comforting memories of Theresa, memories that include time they spent together in his bathtub or hiking in the countryside. But recently, these fantasies have taken on another flavor. In his daydreams, Theresa now beckons him sweetly, asking him to join her. When George, Michael’s friend, phones asking Michael to dinner, he accepts, happy to take refuge from his own obsessive thoughts. But after a short catch-up, Michael tells George he needs to lie down. When awakes, it’s night and a party is in full swing. Michael stumbles down the hall to the bathroom where he runs into Grace. The two share a moment, but then Grace leaves as abruptly as she came. Intrigued, Michael follows her out to the back of the house where people are dancing. He joins her for a short while, but it’s all too much. Michael leaves the party and retreats back to his house. In the bathtub he tries to return to fantasies of Theresa, only to find Grace now also part of his fantasies as well.
