In the present day Southwest, a rancher is beaten and humiliated by thugs while his son is forced to watch. The rancher is certain he has lost stature in his son's eyes while the boy blames himself for having been used by the men to get to his father. Each must deal with the incident individually before the relationship can once again be solidified.
