Tales of Meeting and Parting
Synopsis
Starring Robert Ito, this half-hour film allows a glimpse into a series of fascinating flashbacks of an elderly Japanese man waiting for a Tokyo train. His observation of a series of seemingly everyday occurrences thrusts him into his past to a time in 1944 when he, as a military interpreter particpates in the brutal interrogation of a prisoner of war, and he was forced to consider the absurdities of war. He then returns in his memory to the following year as a prisoner of war himself and an unexpected act of kindness is shown him by a prison guard.
