SON OF A BARMAN
Synopsis
Martin O’Leary has made quite a name for himself at Reynor Hotels in Los Angeles. He has even caught the attention of the head of the company, Bill Snyder. One night, Snyder shadows Martin on a real estate acquisition to see how the young prospect works. Just before making the deal, Martin receives news from Jay Coakley, a family friend in Ireland that his estranged father has passed away. Even with the news, Martin manages to close the deal. In a pompous gesture of feigned concern, Snyder convinces Martin to return to his hometown of Kilcorry, Ireland for the first time in ten years. Upon arrival at O'Leary's pub, he walks in on his father’s wake. Townsfolk are celebrating the life of the man whom Martin has resented since before he left home. Martin is met with cheers and greetings from the town, especially from Jay and another family friend, Kathy Kirby. During the celebration, Martin learns that he is to inherit the pub. He immediately concocts an idea to sell the business to Snyder and the hotel chain to establish the company’s first international destination. Only after Martin has sold Snyder on the idea does he learn that the inheritance is shared with Jay and Kathy. Now Martin, the son who left his family and town behind, must convince them to sell their shares of the pub, or risk blowing the biggest deal of his career.
