In a rundown Latino neighborhood, angry and foul-mouthed Karla desperately wants to leave only life she knows. Though afraid of her formidable mother, Karla decides to join her long distance boyfriend in Phoenix, by any means possible. Plagued by limited resources and stuck with babysitting her two younger sisters, Karla faces an insurmountable challenge in getting enough money for a bus fare to leave that same evening.
