Synopsis
Shui Hen is a coming-of-age story about a Chinese girl in China, left behind when her parents go to Cuba and she reunites with them after fifteen years. She quickly discovers that she's a stranger within her own family and feels dissatisfied with the dynamics brought on by being with them. As a young person she wants to be free to go to school, but her parents have plans for her to work at the family's shop while they set her up for marriage. They feel this is what they owe her after being seperated for so many years. This film explores how familial love grows through the struggle between a daughter and her parents.
