SHELTER
Synopsis
The story presents a film noir vision of a city where sleeping on the sidewalk can be safer than a bed in a shelter. Ellen, who lives on the sidewalk in front of a deli, is taken by authorities and locked up in a mental hospital. While she fights to get out, her well-meaning sister fights to keep her there. The life and death ethical questions raised by the case are brought home in a provocative drama.
