Saigon, Vietnam 1968: Communists attack the city during the Tet Offensive. Lam, a South Vietnamese sends his brother and pregnant wife to hide in the countryside. In hopes of a better future for his family, he joins American forces. Lam enlists and leaves as an idealist determined to fight for liberty and freedom, only to be confronted by brutality and betrayal. As the years pass, horrific images of war scar Lam significantly and change him into a different man: A man who, upon his return, is haunted by shadows of the past.
