SAFE HOUSE
Synopsis
As a child of eight, Sam had to live with not knowing why his father deserted him and his mother. After 10 years of never seeing or hearing from him, he recognizes his father on the street. Sam doesn't say anything but follows the man into the barrio, where he discovers that his father George is running a "safe house" for illegal immigrants. In a painful but inevitable confrontation, we learn that George left his job, his home and his own family to live a life dedicated to the principles he felt were for a higher good. Sam finds George immersed in a crisis, one that ultimately forces both father and son to make very dangerous choices about loyalty. Sam's anger, which culminates in another betrayal, changes when he comes to understand that it is he and he alone who holds the power to shape his own life. Based on a true story.
