The story of a misguided romance between two people in their late teens. The boy sees the girl as a silly, socially inept romantic, and she sees his careless teasing as something much more. When she lets her feelings for him be known on a local radio broadcast, he decides to defend his honor. He and his friends go to the drive-in restaurant to scare her and what was supposed to be "harmless teasing" results in an accident, the impact of which will change their lives forever.
