Paul, a straight-laced teen, spends the night at his rocker uncle Jerry's apartment in Brooklyn. The two are entertained by Jerry's former girlfriend, the drug addicted, irrepressible Susan. For Paul the evening's chaos brings back painful memories of his own dysfunctional past, and the possibility that Jerry's home is not the safe haven he presumed. By evenings' end, we gain new insight into the tribulations of addiction, self-esteem, and the human condition, learning that those we love aren't always perfect.
