During WWII, Japanese Americans were shamefully forced from their homes and sent to live in internment camps. Ken and Jo, young Japanese-American brothers, are two such victims. In 1945, after their father passes away, the boys decide to escape from the Manzanar War Relocation Center in California, where they have been detained for over three years. Their objective? To find their Caucasian mother whom they believe lives just a few hours away.
