From she was very little, Lisa, an 8-year-old girl with boundless imagination, used to listen to her mother’s story about a golden thread that would keep them together even after they die. When her father Kevin tells her that her mother has passed away from illness, Lisa tries to cope by making the golden thread a reality. As Kevin struggles with his own grief, he has a hard time relating to his daughter and what he believes to be a child’s fantasy. Their contrasting ways of handling their loss drive them further and further apart, ultimately leading to consequences none of them had foreseen.
