Fort Irwin explores the surreal world of military simulations. Cristian arrives for his first day of work as an amputee actor at Fort Irwin, a military base in the Mojave Desert. for his new job, Cristian will act as if his limbs have been blown off by a bomb while wearing elaborate and gory prosthetics as a part of soldiers’ training exercises. The idea being that his terrifying, grisly performance will acclimate soldiers to the violence they’ll experience in combat. Cristian, an injured veteran himself, enters the artificial military simulation to confront his real combat trauma. Haunted by the past he fights to find a way to turn his fears into a source of strength.
