Florence is settled into her ways, living a small, contained existence: her apartment, her morning routine, her favorite jam, her neighborhood cafe. After coming home from her local cafe she finds a love letter slipped into the coat of her pocket, asking her to meet her admirer at the Salsa Night hosted by the local dance school. The possibility of love gets her out of her routine. Tentatively, she opens back up to the possibilities of life. She tries new colors, new flavors, and even signs up for dance classes in order to get ready for the big night. At Salsa Night, she discovers that–as she hoped–the letter was written by the cafe owner, Robert, but it was intended for someone else. Florence rises above her humiliation to turn the letter over to its rightful owner, and goes home, crushed. Once home, she realizes that although Robert’s heart belonged to someone else, her efforts to greet the moment of possibility have opened her heart back up to the world. She dances, by herself and for herself, in the lobby of her building.
