Set in 1948, Marion is stuck in a lifeless marriage and is hosting a private dinner for four with her husband, Dennis. For dessert, Marion is making a croquembouche - an elegant pastry tower reflective of domestic skill and grace. As the guests arrive, she is quickly introduced to Terrence, Dennis' boss, and to wife, Bonnie. The moment Marion sees Bonnie, it is certain that there is a history.
