On the morning of September 11th, Carey and his son Jules miss the most important phone call they will ever receive. Hannah, Carey’s wife, attempts to reach them from aboard one of the doomed flights headed for the World Trade Center. She leaves her final words to an answering machine. Eight months later, Carey disappears every night to an unknown location, abandoning Jules, whose behavior has been escalating in reckless ways. But when police show up at Carey’s door, he’s faced with the repercussions of his own inability to father—now that Jules has gone too far.
