In contemporary Georgia, a new groundskeeper Ada is surprised by a weekend getaway of the owner Wyatt and his friends. She takes note of the aggressive behaviors of the young men and is later forced to kill a cat that gets trapped. When burying the cat, Ada is introduced to Wyatt's tradition of using cairns as grave marks. The next day, the group departs but one of the girls is not present. After discovering a blooded earring and a massive field of cairns, Ada suspects Wyatt caused the girl harm. Before Ada can call for help, she is confronted by Wyatt and kills him in a moment of chaos.
