BEHIND GOD'S BACK
Synopsis
Based on the Alice Walker short story, "How Did I Get Away With Killing One of the Biggest Lawyers in the State? It Was Easy," about a black girl living in a poor southern town, who as a young teenager becomes the mistress of a prominent white attorney. Her awakening, not only to adulthood, but to the reality of segregation and hypocrisy, leads her to no other decision than to take control of her own life. Which she does. And gets away with it.
