This is the story of four African American combat soldiers who have just returned to the American south from fighting in Europe during World War II. They quickly find that the battle for freedom they carried on overseas has not changed things on their native soil. The soldiers, facing the hypocrisy of racism, must decide whether the "war" can ever be truly over for them.
