Kenny is a 6-1/2 year old boy living on a military base in 1969 with his mother and grandfather. When Kenny's father returns home from Vietnam, Kenny must emotionally navigate this new person in his world. And his father likewise makes a similar journey as he reassimilates himself into stateside family life. Ultimately, father and son must come to terms with absence and the delicate process of reconciliation.
